USA Rugby Announces New High School Rugby Program Grant Recipients

The US Rugby Foundation (USRF) and USA Youth & High School Rugby (USAY&HSR) have partnered in an effort to increase the number of high school rugby programs throughout the United States. With the USRF providing the funding (a $100,000 grant) and the USAY&HSR doing the vetting process, the goal is for at least 20 new high school rugby programs to be created over the next two years.

A key mission and function of this program is to drive sustainable growth and legacies for the entire community to benefit from. As such, applications that were submitted to USAY&HSR were assessed based on the following criteria: governance structure, financial plan and budget, rugby development plan, and fields/equipment.

Both USRF and USAY&HSR are excited to announce the five new programs that have been selected to receive a grant to help them form their new rugby program:

Scotland Chapel, Scotland, Pennsylvania

Worcester High School, Worcester, Massachusetts

San Juan RFC, Farmington, New Mexico

Warren Easton, New Orleans, Louisiana

Loyola High School, Los Angeles, Southern California

If you are hoping to create a rugby program in a high school close to you and you missed this application round, there will be another application window made available in the coming weeks. We encourage you to apply!

Congratulations to the selected programs. We look forward to seeing your success on the pitch!
